An unexpected narrator starts the film, and then something causing all misunderstanding happens in the X-Ray room of Love of Maria Hospital. An unexpected narrator starts the film, and then something causing all misunderstanding happens in the X-Ray room of Love of Maria Hospital. Okay, let’s just disclose it, as you will watch it anyway. Here the happening is; a crew of the hospital is caught having sex with her boyfriend. The act is caught by an x-ray machine, and the x-ray film is displayed in the yard of the hospital. All crews and patients of the hospital get to know that, and the film’s protagonist thinks it’s her and her boyfriend. Are you about to figure this film as comedic love story? Not really. Director Yi Ok-seop is talking about more serious issues such as privacy, violence, rumor, distrust, et cetra. She presents the issues amidst lighthearted elements and visualizes through a series of sinkholes, mysteriously appearing in the city, which imply a hole of all the issues that. Along with director Lee Ok-seop's great job, the cast is also a big win of this film. The male protagonist, Koo Kyo Hwan worked with Lee Ok-seop in short films, and this time, as an actor/producer. Lee Joo-young who’s the female protagonist and Koo Kyo Hwan also presented a great combination. It will be interesting to see what future roles they will take on after this.
So, who will be the winner of the next edition of "Coréens à Cannes"? It's worth the wait until next season.
